Euell Gibbons

We share a birthday and a love of the outdoors, but that's about it. In popular culture, he's most famous for his television ad quote, "Ever eat a pine tree? Many parts are edible." Followed soon after with "Grape Nuts cereal reminds me of wild hickory nuts."

Remind me never to eat a wild hickory nut, because I tried Grape Nuts for the first time this morning and they are nasty. Yuck.

  1. Peculiar as it seems, I actually like them.

Gotta put about a half pound of sugar on them and give them a minute in the milk to take the edge off. But I can dig 'em.

It's marching food though. You don't need anything else for days after eating a bowl of that.

  2. I mixed them with Rice Crispies and some sugar. Just don't care for the aftertaste.

  3. Gibbons himself was nuts, if you ask me.

  4. I actually LIKE Grape Nuts. It's a sickness, I know. I can't see the box without thinking of that commercial, though, old as it is. Man, that's some kinda marketing success, ain't it?

I'm glad you're writing again here.

Tread carefully, I have a low tolerance for stupidity.

Oh wait... no I don't. Just don't be an ass.
