Care Packages

Newly graduated Mookie is already in Colorado for her Summer gig. Conditions there are chilly and old, as in the house she's staying at is circa 1880's. She's also found herself in a casino town, with gambling and scenery and not much else. I've worked up dry-mix recipes of my Baked Potato Soup and Chicken Enchilada Soup and have a couple of batches of each ready to send her way, along with an overloaded dehydrator full of fruit merrily desiccating away. The soup mixes don't quite match up to the originals (natch), but they're good enough to share with friends.

No real point here, I just wanted to post something.

I've been in a soup mode myself lately. Do you have Panera Bread where you live? They have a mushroom soup I really like.

Well, no real point here either. I just wanted to comment. Comments are good. Comments are fun. Comments are our friends. Even stupid ones like this one.

We have Panera Bread, and my wife and kids like it, although I've never been.

Can't stand mushrooms. Ech. Although some mushrooms are our friends, or were, back in the 60's.

Dad, you really need to jump on the band wagon and get to a Panera. I personally adore the Chicken Noodle Soup in a bread bowl. I didn't know mom liked Panera though.

Speaking of soup, you might recall "Earth vs. Soup" was my working title while I reviewed the crappy movie version of "Starship Troopers."

Victor, "Earth vs. Soup" was the most inspired title idea I've ever heard, and that includes "Snakes on a Plane".

The Hub and I actually say "PANTERA" Bread every time we mention the name, because we think we're funny and that amuses us to no end, I tell you.

So, OK, you don't like mushrooms. Do you like avocados? How about onions? Tomatoes? I've met all these people in life who, when they don't like one of the aforementioned items, tend to ALSO not like the others. One friend couldn't stand onions, tomatoes, avocado, sour cream, OR mushrooms. WTF? Just order a water, I would tell her.

For some reason, we're not still friends.

Glad you liked that title, Ted. I stole it from MST3K.

Lest you deny my genius, remember Shakespeare stole all of his ideas, too.

I am the exception to the rule I guess. I love avocados and onion and like tomatoes just fine, although I draw the line at eating slices with a little salt like the rest of my family.

Victor, the genius lies in knowing *what* to borrow.
